Angry Mob is an Encounter Card added to a deck by The Dealer (first used during the Jack of Plague's Court).

Description[ | ]

As you approach the small town of Wicheburn, an angry mob of peasants marches forth and confronts you!
"The Ratmen have eaten all our food! We're starving! We demand food!"

Choices[ | ]

  • A) Give them half your food.
You offer to share half of your food with the peasants. They gather around to see your offering.
Lose half your current food.

If you have low food:
"This isn't even enough to feed the children!" someone cries. A fight breaks out amongst the peasants and you leave the scene.
Event ends.

If you have a medium amount of food:
"Haven't you got any more?" asks one of the peasants. "This is something, but we've got to ration it out to everyone."
You leave the simple folk to their troubles.

  • B) Give them nothing.
If you have no food:
You explain that you have no food yourself. After a thorough inspection of your pockets, they reluctantly let you go.

If you have 1 food:
You explain that you have almost no food left for yourself. At the sight of the meager morsel, the villagers rush forward to fight over it!

Otherwise:
You try to ask them why they have no food, and to explain that they have no reason to attack you.
The hungry peasants surround you, even as you try to speak.

Success (x1 dealt):
You manage to convince them that you are only a hungry vagabond yourself. Reluctantly, they let you pass.

Failure (x2 dealt):
"I've got his food sack!" somebody yells, dashing into the crowd. After a brief scuffle, nothing is left of your food supplies but a few scraps of torn material.
You lose all your food.

Huge Failure (x1 dealt):
"He's lying!" an old woman yells. "You can tell by the look in his eye!"
